Old Poems from High School #1

Digging through my desk this month, I found several old short stories and old school assignments. To my surprise, two of them were poems. I don’t write poetry normally. Unless I’m writing a song. So, what better way to honor it than to share something I was forced to write for a grade in Creative Writing class; the first semester of my senior.

This one was an assignment where we were told to write a “Villanelle.”

Title – Life Begins and Ends

Life begins when another ends

Do you know where we go?

Death is here don’t break or bend

Like knew trends

Do you really know?

Life begins when another ends

Life gets tougher as you blend

And you hit your low

Death is here; don’t break or bend

Please don’t leave; your life will end

Like a wish, you do what you want and go

Remember, life begins when another ends

Please don’t go; my life I’ll lend

Life is death and it’s a show

You will miss me in the end

Please keep those letters; don’t send

I will know your message when I go

Life begins when another ends

Death is here; don’t break or bend
